I have this theory that we should all be kind to the environment, because if we don't who will? There is no need to add more unnecessary items to landfills than we have to. Also for the sake of the animals that live in rivers and near landfills, we have to look out for them. Here are a few simple ways you can be more green in your day to day life.
~Use Reusable Bags~
Using a reusable bag when going to the grocery store should be common practice by now. All of those plastic bags ending up in the landfill is truly unfortunate. I like the Lilly Pulitzer reusable market totes because they hold a good amount of items, but can be put on your shoulder so that it does not feel as heavy.
~Recycle Paper~
You would think that everyone recycles paper by now, but surprisingly that is not the case. It is very simple to get a cute little paper tray to put in a desk drawer to put unwanted paper in. Whether it be an envelope or unneeded copy paper, its so easy to just throw it into the paper tray. Then when the paper tray fills up, which takes awhile as paper it thin, just empty the paper tray into your large recycling bin.
~Use Reusable Water Bottles~
As convenient as it is to just grab a plastic water bottle when leaving home, instead try using reusable bottles. You can keep multiple filled and ready to go in your fridge and refill them at water fountains throughout the day. For me I love a new water bottle, there are so many fun options out there to choose from. Having a new water bottle almost makes me want to drink more water. A couple water bottles that I currently think are fun include this glass bottle that is nice to keep at home in the fridge as well as this fun yellow bottle
~Use Real Plates and Utensils~
Instead of using plastic and styrofoam plates and utensils, why not buy cute plates and utensils that are reusable. In my opinion its better to spend 20 seconds washing a fork and plate than it is to put a plastic fork and styrofoam plate into a landfill.
~Cut These Plastic Drink Holders~
One of the easiest ways to possibly save a turtles life is to cut the circles on these plastic drink holders. If they are thrown away uncut they then can end up in rivers and a turtle can become stuck in it, causing their shell to become deformed.

When I was pregnant with Crew I CRAVED Aquafina bottled water (so random, right?) I need to get back into the swing of using a reusable bottle!
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny! I've never heard of anyone craving bottled water!
